The Berkley Zoning Board of Appeals approved changes to its 2025 meeting calendar and heard a staff update on the zoning ordinance rewrite during the Jan. 13 meeting.
Board members voted to move the August meeting from Tuesday, Aug. 12 to the regular Monday slot on Aug. 11 and to set the September meeting for Tuesday, Sept. 9 so it would not conflict with a Berkley City Council meeting. The motion to accept the amended dates passed on a voice vote with five ayes and no opposition.
City staff reported that the final draft of the rewritten zoning ordinance will go to the planning commission on Jan. 28. Staff said the ordinance is scheduled for two readings at city council (the second meeting in February and the first meeting in March) and, if approved, would take effect 30 days after council adoption—placing an effective date in early April. Staff also said there are no cases filed for the board’s February meeting, so the board will not meet that month, and that the board still needs one additional alternate member.
