The CalPERS Board of Administration on a series of motions adopted proposed decisions issued by an Administrative Law Judge for most of the matters on the agenda, remanded one matter for further medical evidence, and later denied four petitions for reconsideration.
Board member David Miller moved to adopt the proposed decisions for agenda items 1–7, 9 and 11–14 as the board’s own decisions, accepting staff-recommended minor modifications on multiple items and remanding agenda item 8 for additional medical evidence. The motion was seconded. The board conducted a roll-call vote on the motion; the chair announced the motion passed unanimously.
Agenda item 10 had been pulled from the omnibus motion and taken separately. After discussion, the board adopted item 10 in a subsequent roll-call vote; one board member registered a recusal/abstention on that item as recorded in the transcript, and the motion passed.
After completing the proposed decisions, a separate motion to deny four petitions for reconsideration was moved and seconded. The board approved the denial of all four petitions in a roll-call vote; the chair declared the motion passed.
The board also approved travel for board members by roll-call vote later in the session.
Clerks will document the full text of board decisions in the official minutes. The board’s actions implement adjudicatory decisions and close several administrative-docket matters while remanding one case for additional evidence.
