Macomb Township approves resolution committing up to $1 million in matching funds for Town Square grant application

The Macomb Township Board of Trustees voted unanimously Wednesday to approve a resolution committing township funds toward a proposed Town Square improvement project if the township is awarded a grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.
Treasurer Drola told the board the township is preparing a grant application that requires a demonstrated local financial commitment of 50% of the project cost. Because engineers have not finalized a project estimate, the resolution authorizes township commitment of up to $1,000,000 if the grant is awarded.
"This resolution would authorize us or approve up to $1,000,000 which I don't think that would be in the very high end, if we receive the grant," Treasurer Drola said. "Other than that there's no financial commitment if we don't receive the grant."
Board members did not vote on a specific project design or final cost at the meeting; Treasurer Drola said the final estimate should be available after consultations with engineers in the coming week. The resolution passed on a roll call vote; the supervisor declared the resolution adopted.
Motion to approve the resolution was made by Trustee Cuzzamano and supported by Trustee Oliver. The board recorded the roll call affirming the motion and adopted the resolution.
