Conservation commission issues negative determination for PVTA maintenance expansion at 565 Cottage St.

He described removal of sacrificial catch basins and some pavement to install footings, a small net increase in impervious surface (reported in the meeting as about 40 square feet in the 50‑foot buffer area), and landscape work to replace disturbed areas where possible.
Petron also said the project is tied to electrification plans: the facility will be adapted to serve electric buses with new electrical service and switchgear as part of the expansion. He told the commission the expansion would not extend closer to the wetland beyond the previously configured access road and that the stormwater management system had been designed for the full buildout.
Commission discussion noted tree removals associated with the addition; the project team described a planting list (maples, river birch, serviceberry, dogwood and other native shrubs) and estimated tree loss in the teens (variously described as around 12 but possibly up to about 20). The commissioners asked about staging, erosion controls and maintenance of existing stormwater measures; the applicant said silt sacks and standard erosion-control measures would be used during construction.
The commission moved and adopted a negative determination of applicability for the PVTA building addition. Roll call on the motion recorded: Chairman McDonald (yes), Vice Chair Martinez (yes), Commissioner Almeida (yes), Commissioner Mulligan (yes), Commissioner Ryan (yes) and Commissioner Von Jordan (yes).
