The Azusa Unified School District Board of Education on Jan. 14 approved first amendments to two purchase-and-sale agreements for surplus properties, extending the buyers’ due-diligence periods after those buyers reported delays with outside agencies.
Superintendent Ortega told the board the district’s consultants and the buyers worked together on the requests and that the extensions were granted because the buyers encountered unanticipated delays with Los Angeles County and the City of Glendora.
Motions to approve the first amendments to the purchase-and-sale agreements with RC Homes and Company and with Nelia Homes and Company were introduced by Board Member Grier and seconded by Board Member Rodriguez Pena. Both motions passed by a 4–1 vote, with one board member absent.
The board packet listed four buyers for district surplus parcels; two buyers requested extensions during the due-diligence period. The amendments do not change the sales price in the public record summaries provided to the board at the meeting; the agenda reports described the action as adjustments to the contract timelines to allow additional time for outside approvals.
Ending: The board took the amendments as individual consent items; trustees approved both amendments and will return to any remaining surplus-property items as scheduled in future meetings.
