The Azusa Unified School District on Jan. 14 honored dozens of classified employees at a recognition ceremony hosted during the Board of Education meeting, naming Gladstone Middle School bilingual instructional aide Alma Martinez the district Classified Employee of the Year.
The awards capped a selection process that begins at each school site in October. Superintendent-level staff said sites nominate one honoree by mid-November and a panel met Dec. 12 to choose district winners.
