Lakeville Board of Health approves septic upgrade for 12 Violet Street with setback waivers

The Town of Lakeville Board of Health approved a local upgrade septic design for 12 Violet Street at its Jan. 15 meeting after a presentation by Darren McCaleb of Foresight Engineering.

McCaleb told the board that the 5,000-square-foot lot on the water system required a microFAST install and asked for waivers to avoid a third setback on the rear property line and to fit equipment in a crawl space beneath the house. “We're installing a micro fast for the present in each field, and we need to ask for some waivers of property lines in the crawl space area,” McCaleb said. He said both abutters had been notified and that one green card had been returned.

Board members discussed site access and removal of a deteriorated porch to give tank trucks room; McCaleb said removing that porch would provide a 13- to 14-foot access corridor. Board staff confirmed the lot is year-round water service and that the proposal reconfigures the water service to the front to avoid interference with the new septic.

A board member moved to approve the septic upgrade design for 12 Violet Street including the requested waivers; the motion passed with all in favor. The approval is limited to the design presented and the record shows the system will be sized for two bedrooms with a deed restriction.

The board did not record any additional conditions or special reporting requirements for this approval.

Looking ahead, the installer and homeowner must comply with the approved plan and any required as‑built documents at time of installation.
