District 6 provided details for the district’s MLK Day observances, including banner‑making at Robert Churchwell Elementary School, a sold‑out gala at the Parthenon, a labor-and-human-rights breakfast at Skerritt Bennett Center, a youth symposium at MLK Academic Magnet, and the annual youth rally and march beginning at Jefferson Street Baptist Church on Jan. 20 (Jefferson Street will be closed from 26th Ave. to 33rd Ave. North during the march).
District 8 reminded families that the optional-school application window and school tour events were underway, encouraged coat and sweatshirt donations at schools, and called attention to grief‑support programming at Percy Priest Elementary. A junior board member and senior board member also made brief announcements about student events including a Lunar New Year celebration and a debate tournament.
