Council approves minutes, bills, equipment purchases and commission reappointments in unanimous votes

The River Falls City Council on Jan. 14 approved several routine items by roll call, including minutes, a bills list, equipment purchases and three reappointments to the Historic Preservation Commission.

The council approved the minutes from the Dec. 10 meeting (motion and second on the record; roll call yielded affirmative responses from council members). The council then approved bills totaling $1,079,123.62 after a council member moved the amount and another seconded the motion; the motion passed on roll call with all members voting yes.

On the consent agenda the council approved a resolution to purchase an electric department digger truck from Utility Sales and Services Incorporated and a resolution to purchase a Timco 600 street sweeper from Environmental Equipment and Services Incorporated. Council discussion included a caveat from a council member that keeping the existing sweeper rather than trading it in would be evaluated by the city administrator before any long-term plan is finalized; the memo to council noted the city would keep the existing sweeper for now.

The council also approved the mayor’s reappointments to the Historic Preservation Commission: Jane Hoffman (through January 2028), Julie Hubbell (through January 2028) and Mark Anderson (through January 2028). Council voted to confirm the appointments by roll call; all members voted yes.

Motions to adjourn were made and seconded and the meeting concluded with an affirmative roll-call vote.
