Superintendent outlines summer program capacity, mandatory driver-education assembly for 10th graders and pilot math program

During the superintendent's report the board discussed summer programming, a high-school guest speaker tied to driver education, a new pilot math program, and district efforts to notify families.

Summer program: The superintendent said there is not yet a posted registration date for summer camp; the district will provide notice once flyers and registration materials are finalized. The district stated capacity is limited by staff and facilities and estimated camps typically serve about 120 to 150 students depending on available staffing. If registration shows open slots the district said it will contact parents (including by phone) to inform them of available slots.

High-school driver-education guest speaker: The board clarified that the officer-led assembly tied to driver education is for 10th graders enrolled in the driver's education course and that attendance is part of the school schedule for those students.

Pilot math program: A new pilot curriculum will be introduced in February. The superintendent explained the district maintains a five-year curriculum plan with adoption dates and copyright information and said the pilot was provided at no cost to the district. The district will evaluate the pilot and report a recommendation if adoption is recommended.

Communications and notifications: Board members asked the district to increase outreach channels to ensure parents know about registration and other opportunities; the superintendent indicated staff are exploring notifications and robocalls and will notify the public when materials are ready.
