Public hearing on 611 Elm Street dangerous-structure finding postponed for notice error
Summary
A public hearing on condemnation of a dangerous structure at 611 Elm Street was postponed because notice referenced the commission’s regular 7:30 p.m. meeting time instead of the special 4:30 p.m. start; the matter was rescheduled for Oct. 27 at 7:30 p.m.

The City Commission opened a public hearing Oct. 6 on the condemnation of a structure at 611 Elm Street but postponed it after staff reported a notice error. Staff said the required public notice listed the commission’s normal 7:30 p.m. meeting time rather than the 4:30 p.m. start used for this session, so the hearing did not meet statutory notice requirements.
No members of the public came forward either in person or online to comment on the item. The commission closed the hearing and voted to postpone the matter to the next regular meeting, specifying a date and time of Oct. 27, 2025 at 7:30 p.m., to permit proper notice and opportunity for public comment.
No action on the substance of the condemnation was taken at the Oct. 6 meeting.
