A joint select committee appointed to arrange a memorial service for deceased former members of the South Dakota Legislature reported that the House and Senate should recess and convene a joint session at 3 p.m. on Jan. 23, 2025, for that purpose.
The committee recommended that the joint session introduce a joint memorial resolution in memory of the former members, that a short program follow the introduction, and that the memorial resolution be printed in both the House and Senate journals. The committee’s report was submitted to the Senate by Chair Brandy Schaeffauer.
The report lists committee members from both chambers and states that after the short program the joint session would be dissolved. The Senate received the report as presented; no further debate or votes on the recommendation were recorded in the session transcript.
