Senator unveils top winners of state parks art contest; works to be displayed in the rotunda

A senator on the floor said she and Representative Marvin Lim, working with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR), launched a statewide art contest for high school students to showcase Georgia’s state parks and historic sites.
The senator said more than 100 students submitted artwork and the judges selected 15 winners. The top three pieces are on display in the rotunda as part of Keeping Georgia Wild Day; the senator invited colleagues and guests to view the top 15 in the south wing at 1 p.m. and to attend a reception with the artists at 2:30 p.m.
The senator noted that DNR’s State Parks and Historic Sites Division manages more than 60 properties that preserve the state’s natural and cultural resources. She asked the Senate to recognize the students in the gallery.
