Economic development office reorganizes roles; ag manager to depart

St. Mary’s County economic development staff reviewed an internal reorganization that shifts one administrative coordinator slot to an economic development specialist position, creating role specializations across attraction, retention, communications, ag and small business.
The reorganization assigns staff as follows: Ben Cohen (development facilitator/project facilitation), Lee Greeley (business retention and expansion), Catherine/Katrine Stormont (business attraction and Aero Park presence), Katrine/Kat Hoyer (marketing and communications), Emily (ag and seafood/small business specialist) and Lisa (senior administrative coordinator). Staff said specialization will allow dedicated focus on Aero Park, Techport, farmers markets and small business outreach.
Staff also announced that Priscilla Leach, manager of the ag and seafood division, has submitted her resignation and will step down at the start of next month to be with family; staff said she is pregnant. The purple (vacant) position remains on the department chart and will be filled or reassigned per staffing needs.
Commissioners and staff discussed the department’s close collaboration with the Small Business Development Center and with St. Mary’s College; staff noted the department shares office space with some partners to support walk‑in business assistance.
