The Napa County Board of Supervisors on Jan. 14, 2025 appointed Walt Brooks and Pete Richmond to the county Planning Commission, the board said, with terms to run coterminous with their nominating supervisors through Dec. 31, 2028.
Supervisor Liz Alessio nominated Walter “Walt” Brooks for District 2 and praised his farming and wine-industry experience and volunteer service, including time on the Vine Trail executive board and the grape growers’ organization. Supervisor Joelle Gallagher spoke in support of Pete Richmond’s decades of experience in viticulture and community organizations, describing him as “a straight talker” and praising his workforce development work.
Brooks said, “I just wanna express my deep thanks to Liz for approaching me and giving me this opportunity to serve the community,” and Richmond said he was “excited to work on the general plan” and thanked the board for the appointment. Clerk Neha Hoskins administered the oath of office to both nominees on the dais.
The board moved and approved the appointments unanimously among members present; Vice Chair Amber Manfry was absent. The motion carried with four ayes. Supervisors were asked to ensure commissioners can meet the commitments of the position, including reading materials, site visits, and field trips that are part of planning commission work.
Ending: The new commissioners will serve until Dec. 31, 2028, coterminous with their respective district supervisors.
