Teachers’ union schedules districtwide ratification vote; results due tomorrow

Carmen Ward, president of the Alachua County Education Association, told the Alachua County School Board at its Jan. 14 meeting that the union will hold a districtwide ratification vote on a tentative agreement the following day.
Ward said voting sites will include the district office (10 a.m.–1 p.m.), Fernside (10 a.m.–1 p.m.) and Sevia (6:45 a.m.–9:30 a.m.), and that the union will have representation at each location. She said roughly 3,300 district employees are eligible to vote and that ballots must be returned to the union by 5 p.m. the following day; Ward said she would report results as they come in.
Ward also reminded board members of the Teacher of the Year event on Jan. 23 and thanked the board for its support for the event.
