Consultant reports $565,729 in approved grants, several pending awards for Struthers

Veil Consulting presented a grants update to the Struthers City Council caucus on Dec. 30, reporting $565,729 in approved grant funds during the last fiscal year and multiple larger awards still pending.
Kristen (Veil Consulting lead) told council the firm has roughly $3,300,592 pending for cybersecurity funding through the state and another federal application for $640,000 that remains pending while Congress completes a federal budget. She said a related $4,000,000 EPA request is still pending; that request was submitted as part of a joint $20,000,000 application involving Youngstown and Girard.
"We had 565,729 in approved grant funds," Kristen said. She described ongoing work with the city's wastewater treatment plant and said Veil Consulting's contract work had helped secure funding targeted to wastewater upgrades. Kristen said the consultant team would continue supporting grant reporting and department-specific reporting as part of the contract at no additional charge.
Kristen introduced Ty Beatty as part of the consulting team and described him as the firm's planning and zoning specialist and Brownfields specialist; Beatty will assist with brownfield redevelopment and riverfront planning projects should the contract be renewed.
Council members praised the consultant's work and asked staff to keep tracking pending awards. The consultant requested renewal of the contract to continue grant-seeking and reporting work; caucus discussion did not include a formal vote on renewal. Council indicated appreciation and asked staff to continue monitoring the pending federal and state awards.
