According to an IT staff member who described the proposal during the meeting, the team will produce a report listing misconfigurations, outdated equipment and a prioritized list of recommended fixes. “They basically go through and find anything that's not right and put in a report and tell us, hey. This is what the issues are,” the IT staff member said.
The assessment is advisory: the reviewers will not perform repairs as part of the standard engagement. The staff member said the team can provide follow‑up assistance or suggest vendors if the county wants help implementing changes. The board discussed that some recommendations could lead to additional capital or operating costs (for example, network switches or other hardware) and that the report would help set priorities for the budget process.
Board members asked about timing; the IT staff member said the team had indicated they would try to visit in February. The board also discussed a recent vacancy in the sheriff's office IT support position and noted the audit would help the county identify gaps while staffing is addressed.
