Senate leaders on Jan. 13 announced committee and subcommittee appointments for the 83rd Legislative Assembly, listing chairs, vice chairs and membership for standing Senate committees and the Joint Committee on Ways and Means subcommittees.
Highlights in the announced rosters include Janine Solman as chair of the Senate Education Committee with Suzanne Weber as vice chair; Mark Meek as chair of Finance and Revenue; Floyd Prozanski as chair of Judiciary; and Kate Lieber named co-chair of the Joint Committee on Ways and Means with Fred Girod as co–vice chair. The Senate also named co-chairs and membership for Ways and Means subcommittees including Capital Construction, Education, General Government and others.
The clerk read an extended list of standing and joint committees — including chairs, vice chairs and members — that the Senate appointed under the adopted rules. Those lists set the panel structure that will receive first consideration of measures when the regular session begins.
The rules adopted earlier in the day govern committee procedure and referrals. Committee rosters and subcommittee assignments published on the Senate floor will be the working panels when committee work begins in the coming weeks.
