The Coconino County Board of Supervisors appointed Paul Bays (District 4) to the County Parks and Recreation Commission on Sept. 30, voting unanimously to confirm the nomination for a three-year term beginning Sept. 30, 2025 and expiring Sept. 29, 2028.
Parks and Recreation staff introduced Bays’ application and noted his experience in trail work, environmental stewardship, and volunteer coordination. Supervisor Judy Begay led comments supporting his nomination and invited Bays to address the board; Bays said he has long worked with local recreation and trails groups, expressed eagerness to serve and to learn the commission’s responsibilities, and thanked supervisors for the appointment.
Supervisor Begay moved the appointment; the motion passed unanimously with no recorded recusals.
Details recorded at the meeting list the appointment as an item pulled from the consent agenda to allow public recognition and a brief statement by the appointee. The board and staff welcomed Bays and thanked him for volunteering to serve the county.
