The planning board recommended approval of exterior repairs at 300 North Washington after storm damage destroyed an attached portion of the building. Homeowner Gail Scott told the board a large tree fell on the adjacent structure during a recent storm and she seeks to replace three windows with a door and to finish vinyl siding on the damaged end wall.
Scott said the damaged portion was removed for safety, leaving an open wall that she has temporarily covered; she described broken windows and water damage and told the board the cost to fully reconstruct the removed unit would exceed available insurance coverage. “I would like to side the rest of the house in vinyl siding,” Scott said, and she asked to match white double‑5 vinyl to existing sections where feasible.
Board members agreed the siding and door are appropriate to restore the property and asked Scott to coordinate final permits and code requirements with city codes staff. A motion recommending approval carried by voice vote; board staff said they will follow up with the homeowner and codes to finalize permit submissions.
