City approves two-year collective bargaining agreement with Las Vegas City Employees Association

The City Council on Jan. 15 ratified a two-year collective bargaining agreement with the Las Vegas City Employees Association (LVCEA) covering roughly 1,265 city employees.
City Manager Mike Jansen and Human Resources Director Vincent Zamora summarized the negotiated package, which runs from July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2026 and has an estimated fiscal impact of $14,445,000 over the two-year term. The agreement provides a cost-of-living adjustment of 3.75% in the first year and a total of 3.3% in the second year under CPI-linked language with floors and ceilings described in the agreement.
Zamora described a months-long negotiation process that included mediation and fact-finding; the agreement was ratified by LVCEA membership on Dec. 19, 2024. Jansen and council members thanked representatives of the union negotiating team and city negotiators for reaching an agreement without further labor disruption.
Council voted to approve the agreement after receiving the statutorily required NRS 288.153 notice that the contract was before council for ratification.
