Needham committee hears Toole Design presentation on street design guide; schedules public forum for Dec. 4

On Oct. 20, 2025, the Town of Needham’s Mobility Planning and Coordination Committee heard a presentation from Toole Design Group on a proposed Needham Street Design Guide, discussed guide goals including safety, resilience, equity and a new connectivity goal, and agreed to hold a hybrid public forum on Dec. 4 to collect initial public feedback.

The guide, Toole project manager Sneha Dekari told the committee, is intended to provide a baseline set of context‑sensitive design recommendations to support the town’s existing Complete Streets policy and to make future street projects more consistent. “This design guide is meant to kind of bridge that gap a little bit,” said Sarah, a senior engineer with Toole Design Group, referring to the gap between policy and specific street design decisions.
