Specific local policy changes discussed included BBD Local (board member training and orientation), BBFA Local (ethics and conflict‑of‑interest disclosures), CCGB (economic development disclosures under Chapter 313), CKC/CKE (safety programs and SRO/guardian program consolidation), a new CQC Local (digital device safety and TEA/HHSC model guidelines), and revisions and code reorganizations for EFA/EFB (instructional materials and library materials) and related exhibits. Scoggins and presenters from administration noted that TASB had vetted legal language and that districts periodically receive multiple updates each year.
Board members asked how often TASB issues updates, whether the district may reject specific recommended language, and how parents and subject‑matter experts can be involved. Administration said TASB sends recommendations multiple times a year, and local board discretion can adapt TASB model language.
After discussion, the board approved the TASB recommended revisions to Policy Update 123 on first reading by voice vote. Administration said additional updates (Policy Update 124) are expected following the legislative session.
