The Tumwater City Council on Jan. 14 agreed by council-member preference to take the 2025 summer recess during the first two weeks of August (no meetings on Aug. 5 and Aug. 12).
City Administrator (staff member) presented calendar options and noted council rules allow a two-week August recess but do not fix the specific weeks. Staff described scheduling tradeoffs: taking the first two weeks of August results in a five-week gap between some business meetings this summer; taking the later two weeks would produce a different gap.
Council members voiced preferences and a majority favored the first two weeks of August. Council member Kathy said she preferred the option presented first; Council member Dahlhoff also favored the first two weeks. The administrator said staff will finalize and may place the schedule on a consent agenda for formal adoption.
No formal vote was recorded at the work session; staff said the schedule will be finalized and returned for any required formal action.
