House sets schedule for joint state addresses, adjusts committee meeting locations and times

The majority leader told members the chamber will convene in pro forma at 9 a.m. and then gavel in as a joint event at 10 a.m.; members were asked to be in their seats by about 9:45 a.m. for a joint "state of the military" address that the majority leader said would run until about 11 a.m. The chamber will reconvene at 1:15 p.m. for a "state of the judiciary" segment and is expected to conclude that part of the day by 3 p.m., the majority leader said. The day will close with a 6 p.m. joint session for the "state of the state" address by the governor.
The majority leader emphasized that the pro forma gaveling is for floor proceedings only and does not change committee procedures.
Representative Delverdang announced a room change for the Energy and Water committee: the committee will meet Thursday at 9 a.m. in room 112 North. Representative Mosier said the Agriculture budget schedule will include introductions and a "Budget 101" presentation by Kansas Legislative Research Department (KLRD) and a performance-based budgeting presentation; Mosier added there will be no meeting on Wednesday. Representative Blake Carpenter said he will place Representative Adam Smith on the Rules Committee on Thursday at 3 p.m. Representative Francis announced the Transportation Committee will meet at 1:30 p.m. Representative Wyandotte County/Leavenworth delegation said it will meet for a luncheon after adjournment in room 152 South.
At the end of the session the majority leader moved to adjourn the House until Wednesday, Jan. 15, at 9 a.m., pro forma. "You've all heard the motion. All in favor, signify by saying aye. All opposed, no. The ayes have it. We are adjourned," the Speaker said following the voice vote.
