Resident urges council to simplify Tomball homebuilding process and to seek broad input on future land use map

During public comment at the Jan. 6 Tomball City Council meeting, resident Colleen Pine urged the council to simplify the homebuilding and permitting process and to hold workshops that include contractors, builders and realtors as the city considers a proposed future land use map.
Pine said she has built and remodeled homes in Tomball and described the process as "very difficult," adding, "I wish it could be easier, and I wish that we could have workshops that involved contractors and builders and realtors to make that easier." She also reminded council that the committee that worked on the draft future land use map was well attended and that the committee reached decisions after public discussion.
Pine's remarks were delivered during the public comment period; council did not take action on the item during the meeting. Staff and the mayor had previously announced that workshops on the future land use map are planned and that the map is in the discussion stage.
