Council appoints members to Tomball Tourism Advisory Committee after in-person interviews

Staff said Raymond Francois resigned from a hotel position (hotel position No. 8) and that as of Jan. 3 the city had no eligible applicants for that hotel slot. Staff also noted one incumbent, Angie Johnson, was seeking reappointment to a resident seat despite her term having expired.
Council heard from two applicants. Eric Berger, who said he lives at 1301 Bridal Drive, Apartment 302 and works as a manager at Grey’s Restaurant and at Tay House Barbecue, described over two decades in hospitality and volunteer work with Real Life Ministries and local regeneration programs. He said his experience in hospitality would help attract visitors to Tomball and create employment opportunities for local young people.
Larissa Roberts, who said she lives at 922 Buster Circle, described prior work in the city’s marketing and tourism department and current roles teaching two courses per semester at Lone Star College Montgomery and working on talent buying at Main Street Crossing. Council discussed whether applicants qualified for the business or resident slots; staff confirmed both Berger and Roberts qualified to fill resident positions and noted Berger could also qualify for a business slot because he manages local restaurants.
Council moved to reappoint Angie Johnson and to appoint Eric Berger and Larissa Roberts to the committee in a single motion. The motion (as read during the meeting) named the reappointment of Angie Johnson, the appointment of Eric Berger as a business representative, and the appointment of Larissa Roberts as a resident. A second was made and the motion "carried unanimously," according to the meeting record. Council thanked the appointees and invited them to serve.
The record shows Gillian Bijou was previously noted as eligible for a business position (position 6), but she was not present for the Jan. 6 introductions. Council did not fill the vacant hotel position No. 8 because no eligible applicant was available.
