Town staff announced that the inclusive expansion at Panther Park is complete and that the new play area is open for use when weather permits.
The update matters to families and residents who use town parks and to volunteers and vendors who participate in the farmers market.
A town speaker said the new playground area is open and that additional upgrades will occur in spring 2025. The town will advertise to recruit a new Hampstead Farmers Market manager; current market manager Keith Johnson is retiring at the end of the year and staff said they hope to select a successor in time for shadowing during market season. Interested applicants were directed to hamsteadfarmersmarket@gmail.com or the market website.
The town also said it is offering four $1,000 Hampstead scholarships for high-school students who live in town limits and have been accepted to a college or university; applications are available at the town website and are due Friday, April 25. In addition, the town noted three $1,000 Maryland Municipal League scholarships (eligibility: municipal residents) with the same deadline.
No formal council action on these community items was recorded at the meeting.
