Town manager says fiber is live for some Hampstead homes; condo and HOA service outreach pending

Town Manager Jim said crews are completing the fiber pull for the town’s broadband project and that some residents in Hampstead have begun receiving service.

Jim said Antenna broadband (also referred to in the meeting as “Antietam” crews) is finishing the town fiber project’s final pieces and that overhead line installation remains to be done. “As the fiber is being pulled through in the neighborhood, the residents are informed that the Antietam service is now available to them if they wish to join,” he said. Jim said some houses already have service and the company hopes the system will be available to all town customers by late February or early March.
Council member Wayne asked whether the company had laid fiber into condominium developments such as Hampstead Valley. Jim answered that crews had not yet connected condo associations and that the company plans to reach out to property management and homeowner associations after completing most single-family and townhome connections.
No formal council action on broadband was recorded during this meeting.
