They proposed special elements including a high‑school t‑shirt design contest for the anniversary, collectible stickers and partner food vendors at summer events.
On funding, Leah said staff is pursuing multiple grant opportunities and sponsorships to augment the approved budget. She said a federal lobbyist and university partners had identified the National Endowment for the Arts as a potential source. According to staff, the NEA grants the staff is targeting have a minimum award of $25,000 and maximum awards that may reach six figures; Leah said, “The National Endowment for the Arts grant is a minimum of 25,000, maximum of a 150.”
Staff noted other grant activity: a nonprofit (referred to in the packet as 4Culture) has awarded approximately $38,000 over three years for SummerStage support and a separate $60,000 grant supports investments at Dougherty Farm (historical preservation category). Commissioners and staff discussed sponsorship brochures and a grant window expected to open in the coming weeks; staff said they may seek outside grant‑writing support for large federal requests.
