Hoover Ridge barn roof collapsed after heavy snow; county files insurance claims and will inspect structure

Madison County staff reported that heavy snow in early January collapsed the A-frame roof of a barn at Hoover Ridge (also referred to as Renback Barn). Park staff closed the facility, secured the site with temporary fencing, and relocated stored equipment to a fenced area.
Public works and facilities staff said the county has filed a claim with its insurance provider (PRA) and identified an additional policy through Baycor. The county expects an adjuster to inspect the site within days; county staff also scheduled a preconstruction meeting and an engineer site visit to assess structural damage. Park and maintenance staff said they would not allow personnel inside the structure until professionals complete the assessment because beams and connections appear to have suffered structural failure.
County staff reported they would bring inspection findings and insurance conclusions back to the board, along with options for repair, reconstruction, or demolition. Staff said they secured the site and reopened the rest of the park.
