Council President Marqués Herz Dawson led the opening and called for announcements and an out-of-order discussion so members could report on damage in their districts and on response work at fire scenes. Councilmember Park, whose district includes Pacific Palisades, described heavy destruction to homes, libraries, parks and businesses and outlined a recovery package she introduced to address immediate needs including debris removal, housing assistance, animal rescue and infrastructure repair. Park said her district’s staff and volunteers have been working door-to-door, “going from door to door asking people to evacuate” and assisting residents on the ground; she credited other council offices and regional partners for assistance.
The council heard repeated pleas from members to prioritize firefighting resources, post‑fire public safety and resident assistance.
