Committee approves technical corrections to new zoning code and fee schedule

The Planning and Land Use Committee approved technical corrections and a corrected resolution to fix typographical and table errors in the new zoning code adopted to implement the Downtown Los Angeles Community Plan.
Erin Coleman of the Department of City Planning read a list of technical corrections the department recommended to avoid inconsistencies between the new zoning code and the existing Chapter 1A fee structure. Planning staff said errors included transposed numbers, typos and missing symbols or tables that would otherwise cause inconsistent fee amounts in some instances.
Planning staff explained that one substantive technical correction pertains to the IX‑2 use district in the downtown community plan; the prior adopted code text had incorrectly allowed ground‑up residential uses where the plan had intended housing only by adaptive reuse in an industrial area. "That was an error, should not be allowed. And so the technical correction and the resolution before the committee would correct that," Craig Weber, city planning staff, told the committee.
The committee also approved fee‑table fixes in multiple sections — for quasi‑judicial relief, environmental fees, final map and subdivision tables, nuisance abatement fees and street‑name processing fees — to align the chapter 15 tables with chapter 1A formatting and annual inflation adjustment rules.
The roll call recorded Bloomfield, Hutt, Nasserian, Lee and Raman voting aye; the clerk announced the technical corrections and corrected resolution approved.
