Committee adopts resolution correcting technical errors in new Central Area zoning code

The Planning and Land Use Committee unanimously approved a resolution making technical corrections to the newly adopted Central Area zoning code, addressing a series of drafting errors staff identified after the code’s adoption.
Craig Weber of the Department of City Planning summarized the corrections as technical fixes needed before implementation of the new code in about two weeks. Weber said one correction would prevent an unintended allowance that would have permitted broad residential uses in an industrial district; other fixes amend fee tables, inflation‑adjustment columns and labels so the new code’s formatting is consistent with Chapter 1 standards.
Weber read a list of specific technical edits the resolution would make, including corrections to Section 15.3 (conditional uses and inflation adjustments), numeric edits in Section 15.3.4, changes to tables in 15.3.A.8 and 15.3.B (fees and base fees), and an update to subsection 15.3.15 regarding private street name applications and non‑refundable payments to the Bureau of Engineering.
The committee approved the resolution by unanimous roll call: Bloomenfield, Hot, Nazarian, Lee and Ramon. City staff said the new zoning code will begin to apply in approximately two weeks and that these corrections are intended to prevent inconsistencies that could produce unintended penalties or permissive uses.
The committee continued item four to February 11; no substantive action on that item occurred at this hearing.
