The Tuscaloosa City Public Projects Committee awarded the Garner Road Grama Sewer Rehabilitation Project to SAK Construction LLC as the low bidder, approving the base bid and an alternate for air‑release valve replacements with a total award of $3,370,859. Staff said the work will be funded from the city's 2024 bond program.
Brian, who presented the item, explained the project will use cured‑in‑place pipe (CIPP) to line about two miles of 24‑ to 30‑inch gravity sewer downstream of lift station 42, and will replace four air‑release valves (ARVs) on a force main that have contributed to overflows in recent years. He showed a sample liner and said the cured liner becomes an independent structural element inside the host pipe.
Staff reported there were five bids and SAK was the low bidder; they recommended awarding the base bid plus the alternate for ARV replacement. A motion to approve was made and seconded, and the item was approved by voice vote.
