La Verne Library merges story times, hosts book sale and 'Dinosaurs in the Library' in February

At the Jan. 13 La Verne Library Board meeting, staff outlined upcoming children’s programming and a book sale and described a reorganization of weekly story times.
Donna, a library staff member, said the library is combining its Monday homeschool story time and Wednesday preschool story time into a single family program on Wednesdays at 10 a.m., called “All Together Now.” The library will continue Books and Babies on Thursdays at 10 a.m. Donna said the merged program will include stories, music, movement and arts and crafts and will encourage older children to assist younger participants.
Staff also told the board that a book sale began Jan. 2 and will run through Feb. 1 (or until inventory sells out). Prices announced at the meeting were 50 cents for hardbacks and 25 cents for paperbacks; the transcript references children’s books in the sale but the per‑item price for children’s books was not specified at the meeting.
Donna and other staff described a special program planned for Feb. 4 at 5 p.m.: Struts Entertainment will bring four animatronic dinosaur puppets for an educational evening program the library staff hopes will attract families.
Board members thanked staff for keeping programs running after the December break‑in and encouraged continued outreach to the community. The board reviewed its 2025 meeting schedule at the same session: March 10, May 12, July 14, Sept. 8 and Nov. 10.
No formal votes were taken on programming during the Jan. 13 meeting; staff presented schedules and event details for information and community promotion.
