The Tuscaloosa City Public Projects Committee approved a minor public works contract with Water Services Group to install three insertion valves on a water main on 8th Avenue for $37,269. The work will be paid from the distribution operations account.
Kimberly, the presenting staff member, said the insertion valves can be installed while the line remains in service and will reduce the number of customers who must be taken offline during maintenance. She said the segment is in an older residential area between the railroad and Wright Drive and that the work also replaces a broken valve and improves the operating valve count for future maintenance.
A map was requested by a committee member; Kimberly said she would provide a map by the end of the meeting. A motion to approve was made and seconded and approved by voice vote.
