PORTLAND, Ore. — The Portland Public Schools Board of Education voted Jan. 13 to donate surplus air-purifier units to Los Angeles Unified School District after LAUSD requested help amid wildfire-related air-quality concerns.
Superintendent Dr. Kimberly Armstrong told the board the district has roughly 2,600 units in storage and is proposing to donate about 2,000. "We have 2,600 approximately, and so we're looking at donating about 2,000. And all of our schools have all of our classrooms have air purifiers at the moment," Armstrong said.
