Trustee Carrillo (Vice President, Central Unified Board of Trustees) introduced revisions to an earlier district resolution, telling trustees the changes tightened language and aligned the resolution with state guidance and model policies. The revision states the district will not solicit or collect information about immigration or citizenship status, will not cooperate on‑site with immigration enforcement actions except as required by law, and will translate information about families’ rights and district procedures into the district’s major languages.
Superintendent Davis and Dr. Lopez (Assistant Superintendent) said the district had already begun steps to implement the resolution, including producing one‑page informational materials for site leaders, planning parent webinars, and coordinating with community partners such as the Mexican consulate. Dr. Lopez said staff had reviewed the district’s administrative regulations governing student records and would prepare translated materials and staff training on how to respond to any outside agency inquiries.
Trustee Carrillo asked the board to formally adopt clearer language about when the district will comply with legally required subpoenas or warrants and to require the superintendent to verify any such order before releasing records. The resolution also calls for regular staff training so site personnel can identify lawful requests and respond properly.
The board approved the resolution 7‑0. The adopted text directs the superintendent to translate the resolution into the district’s major languages, provide staff training, and inform families of their rights and available supports.
