Two candidates interviewed for West Chester Library Board; council to decide at next meeting

Two residents interviewed Jan. 14 for an opening on the West Chester Library Board as part of the borough council's boards-and-commissions interviews.
Denise Polk, joining by phone, described a long history of library use and local involvement: "I've always been a patron of public libraries wherever I've lived... I live just a few blocks away from the library, and I regularly attend events and check things out and have made donations to the library," Polk said. She said she had no other upcoming travel plans that would interfere with attendance.
Norman Crandall, who appeared in person, recounted growing up visiting libraries and stressed the library's role as a community resource. Crandall described the West Chester library as "a jewel in the crown" and said he wanted to help continue its programs and outreach to surrounding townships.
Councilors asked candidates about availability and experience. Council President McGinnis said council would decide the appointment after the Jan. 15 meeting.
No formal vote was recorded during the work session; council members said the interview results and committee recommendations would be considered at the next meeting.
