Dr. Heller presented the recommendation, saying the procurement will replace the district———fleet and bring devices to current specifications. Under the plan, kindergarten and first-grade students will receive Dell touchscreen Chromebooks; grades 2—6 will receive 8 GB Dell 14-inch Windows touchscreen laptops; grades 6—12 will receive 16 GB Dell 14-inch Windows touchscreen laptops; and teachers will receive 32 GB Dell 14-inch Windows touchscreen laptops. The purchase includes Chromebooks, laptops and a five-year warranty, and district staff credited IT director Jarek Posdell for negotiating favorable pricing with Dell.
Board member Amy Cinder moved to approve the purchase and John Castro seconded the motion. The board voted 5-0 to approve the purchase as presented.
Superintendent and staff said the acquisition aims to replace aging equipment at the end of its useful life and standardize devices by grade band. Trustees did not amend the purchase; no additional financing action was recorded at the meeting.
