Board moves girls hockey co-op agreement to full board; Sparta has three participants this year

A staff member said the agreement is a collaboration among six, soon-to-be-seven, schools with Black River Falls designated as the sponsoring host district where the team is based. The agreement specifies comparable ice time (approximately 80–90 minutes on a regular basis) and includes provisions that if Sparta reaches certain participation thresholds (for example 25 percent of participants), additional hosting responsibilities and provisions would be triggered.
Sparta has three girls participating on the co-op roster this year. Financial responsibility for the co-op is allocated by participant share; staff said last year the per-student cost was about $1,200 but noted they did not have precise current-year figures at the meeting. Families are responsible for transporting athletes to co-op activities; some pickup language exists in the agreement but primary transportation responsibility rests with families.
Board member Brent Gilbert moved the recommendation to send the co-op agreements to the full board under consent; the motion was seconded and carried. No final full-board vote on the co-op agreement was taken at this meeting.
