After a motion to appoint Spatarotto and a second, the council conducted a roll call vote and approved the appointment.
Spatarotto then took the oath of office, swearing to support the U.S. and California constitutions and to faithfully discharge the duties of the office. Council and staff welcomed Spatarotto and said they looked forward to working with her.
The appointment is an interim selection to fill the unexpired term; the council noted that future elections will determine the next full-term representative for the seat.
