Area Plan Commission elects officers, appoints committee representatives and reactivates transportation study committee

At its Jan. 15 meeting the Tippecanoe Area Plan Commission elected Gary Schroeder president and Jerry Reynolds vice president, confirmed executive committee and city/town representatives, and announced reactivation of a transportation study committee for the MPO process.
The Area Plan Commission opened its Jan. 15 meeting with roll call and elected Gary Schroeder president and Jerry Reynolds vice president by unanimous voice votes.
The commission also confirmed executive committee representatives for jurisdictions: Gary Schroeder and Tom Murtaugh to represent Tippecanoe County; Jerry Reynolds and Jackson Bogan for the City of Lafayette; Larry Levrens and Kathy Parker for West Lafayette; and Diana Looper to represent the towns of Dayton, Battle Ground and Clarks Hill. The appointments were confirmed by unanimous voice votes.
The commission appointed a representative to the Area Board of Zoning Appeals and then moved into the public hearing portion of the meeting. Commissioners discussed committee staffing and reactivated a Transportation Study Committee to participate in the Metropolitan Transportation Plan process with the MPO. Commissioners said the transportation committee would likely meet at most monthly and requested volunteers; the committee will likely have a maximum of eight members and times/dates will be set after members express interest.
Administrative items at the start of the meeting included approval of the Dec. 18, 2024 minutes and ratification of an administrative action on Jan. 3, 2025 approving the January APC public hearing agenda. The chair also reviewed continuances for UZO Amendment 115 and rezone cases Z2960 and Z2957 to February and March hearings, respectively.
