The Greenwood Redevelopment Commission on Jan. 14 approved a $98,964.63 change order for Greenwood Sports Park and accepted a certificate of substantial completion for the project, clearing the way for public use of the new athletic fields.
The change order, described to commissioners as a near-final adjustment to close out the construction contract, was presented by Kevin, capital-projects staff, who said the net amount is $98,964.63 and that the project remained “pretty close to a percentage change point to where we started.” Commissioners voted to approve the change order by voice roll call; the motion passed with all five voting members recorded as in favor.
Kevin also presented the certificate of substantial completion, saying the park is now open for limited use and that children had a chance to play baseball before cold weather set in. Commissioner Hoover moved to accept the certificate; the motion was seconded and approved on a roll-call vote.
Commissioners and staff described Greenwood Sports Park as a completed amenity that will serve residents and visitors. Remarks at the meeting mentioned hopes that the fields will see frequent baseball and softball play once weather permits.
The approvals are administrative steps in closing the project and do not, in themselves, change budget totals beyond the approved change-order amount.
