Virginia City Councilors on Jan. 14 voted to delay taking possession of a newly ordered garbage truck until the council gets more information on funding and legal implications of accepting or refusing delivery.
Councilor Paulson moved — and the council supported — a motion to decline delivery of the truck pending further information from staff and the city attorney and further discussion at the next Committee of the Whole. The roll call after the motion showed six votes in favor and one opposed; the mayor reiterated staff was asked to check the contract and report whether refusing delivery would incur penalties.
