Two members of the public addressed the board during the Jan. 14 public-comment period.
Christopher Diley spoke about the Federal Highway Administration’s Wildlife Crossings Pilot Program and noted that eligible applicants include state departments of transportation, metropolitan planning organizations, units of local government and regional transportation authorities. He said several awards in fiscal 2024–25 went to state DOTs and urged the city to consider feasibility for Franklin.
Richard Nedrick of 818 Stonewater Boulevard thanked the city for its snow and ice response. He said pretreatment (brine) and prioritization of steep roads and first-responder routes made driving safer in West Haven and other neighborhoods. City representatives said they would follow up with state representatives and staff about grant questions and thanked the speakers for their comments.
