Board sets 7‑day deadline to publish agendas, packets and minutes ahead of meetings

The Cobb County Board of Elections adopted a policy requiring that meeting materials — including the agenda, agenda packet and meeting minutes — be published on the elections office website at least seven days before each meeting.

Board Member Bruning proposed the seven-day timeline to give the public and board members adequate time to review materials. "I think I would suggest setting a deadline 1 week before the meeting," Bruning said during discussion.

Director Fall told the board the office will use a civic-clerk system to streamline publishing and that staff can post "whatever we have at that stage" at seven days while later items or amendments can be added before the meeting. Several board members asked staff to produce a calendar for internal deadlines so the board and staff understand timelines for drafting, circulating and posting minutes and packets.

Board Member Bruning moved adoption of the seven-day publication timeline and Board Member Bruning (second recorded in transcript as Mr. Bruning then Mr. Breuning) was seconded; the motion passed unanimously. The board instructed staff to implement the schedule and to coordinate internal workflows between board administrative staff and elections staff so packets are available to the public on that timeline.

Director Fall cautioned that some items can still be amended at the meeting but said moving to the civic-clerk platform will help meet the timeline.
