La Porte ISD reports progress on Lomax, Bulldog Stadium and Legacy Complex; stadium substantial completion targeted in February

District staff updated the Board of Trustees Monday on multiple capital projects, reporting Lomax Elementary site work and foundation piers under way, and substantial progress at the Bulldog Stadium and the Legacy Complex.
Doctor Jackson, reporting on facilities and construction, said Lomax’s demolition and soil remediation are complete and contractors are preparing foundations and an underground detention system. The district is permitted and scheduled to begin concrete work for piers and foundations, he said.
At Bulldog Stadium, Jackson said the track surface is about 99% complete and the turf is roughly 95% installed; workers still need to brush in infill, stripe the track and finalize the press box. New RGB-capable lights and a distributed speaker system have been installed; the press box interior work and furniture deliveries were described as nearing completion, with furniture expected in February.
Jackson said the field house and legacy complex work continues, and that the district hopes for ‘substantial completion’ of the stadium in February and the Legacy Complex in May. The competition gym portion of the legacy project is expected to run into August 2025. The board and staff discussed permitting logistics and the fire marshal’s involvement; the stadium and complex share a single permit, which affects occupancy and egress timing. Staff said they would meet with the fire marshal to explore options to isolate permits if needed to allow earlier use of portions of the stadium.
Trustees and administrators also briefed on other systemwide facilities work—furniture cycles, plumbing reviews and campus renovations—that will continue through the summer and into next year.
